Empowering girls to create change through entrepreneurship
Our founders, Samra Kanwal and Allison File, were inspired to start Girls Who Launch after noticing the startling gender imbalance within their university entrepreneurship and business classes. Their classes were male dominated and after doing research, they discovered the widespread gender inequity that permeates the business and entrepreneurship landscape.
Here are the figures.
Women represent a mere 13% amongst startup founders
Only 7.4% of Fortune 500 CEOS are women
Women earned only 82 cents per every $1
Girls Who Launch strives to upset the status quo. We want to create a future where girls have the same opportunities as their male counterparts. We want to foster the next generation of amazing female entrepreneurs. And chiefly, we want to equip each girl with the confidence and skills to create their own change.
"I will just create, and if it works, it works, and if it doesn’t, I’ll create something else. I don’t have any limitations on what I think I could do or be."
